Democratic National Convention

Chicago Scenic was responsible for engineering and building the dais and lectern with security height and control, the three-story podium, and the large projection screens surrounding them.  This structure housed a 56’ monitor wall, a 30-piece orchestra, two elevators, and a sprinkler system. In addition, Chicago Scenic built out the DNCC media center and press platforms, and provided event signage and décor inside and outside of the United Center.

In 2000 Chicago Scenic was summoned to provide construction management for the scenic elements for that year’s Democratic National Convention, held in Los Angeles, CA.  Chicago Scenic upgraded the podium and lectern from the 1996 convention and shipped them to the Los Angeles Staples Center. CSSI also provided a project manager and crews to ensure that everything ran smoothly through the event’s entirety.

In 2004, Chicago Scenic helped transform the Boston Fleet Center into the spectacular convention hall it was for the 2004 Democratic National Convention.  For this event, Chicago Scenic provided the three main podiums, a screen surround with a massive 16 ft. by 89 ft. opening, the center ceiling flag, monitor walls, west end press risers and 1,300 running feet of press desks. 2004 was also the year that Chicago Scenic unveiled its new automation system, which controlled the mechanics for raising and lowering the podiums, slip stages, and monitor walls.
