White Cherry Productions designer Rene Lagler designed the oversized trophy which Chicago Scenic built and delivered. Flat frames covered in mylar comprised the trophy’s base and the football at the top of the trophy was an inflatable that was quickly pumped up prior to its entrance onto the field.
For the 2007 NFL kickoff, Chicago Scenic Studios helped the Indianapolis Colts relive their 2006 Super Bowl Championship by constructing a larger-than-life Super Bowl ring for the team to run through at the season opening game. CSSI built the ring framework from wood and then covered it with flexible mylar laminate.
To create the dazzling effect, the ring featured about 60 versa tube lighting fixtures on the inside, about 150 lighting fixtures on the top, and a pyrotechnic effect that highlighted the players’ entrance. Chicago Scenic also provided the large, horseshoe-shaped stage for the national anthem sung by Keisha Cole with the Voices of Unity choir.
Chicago Scenic has created larger-than-life Super bowl rings, football helmets and trophies to help celebrate football season debuts.
Chicago Scenic’s impressive involvement with large-scale public events also includes the NFL Opening Kickoff 2005 pre-game event. The Kickoff, hosted by the New England Patriots, was a spectacular one-hour event showcasing all-star entertainment. CSSI fabricated a larger-than-life replica of the Patriot’s football helmet (standing 20’ by 20’ by 27’) that included an automation system for a quick-time reveal of featured performer Ozzy Osbourne. Later, the face mask parted, allowing players to rush the field.
The NFL opened its 2004 season at the Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts. The event was bigger than a Super Bowl halftime show due to the number of stages and artists involved. Chicago Scenic provided scenic elements on four stages; the highlight was a timed reveal on the field stage. CSSI constructed a gigantic Vince Lombardo trophy unit composed of tube steel with an inflatable football on top. The sides of the trophy fell open on cue to unveil musician Lenny Kravitz. Chicago Scenic also provided custom facing panels and flag panels that concealed Kravitz’s amplifiers.
On a different stage, CSSI built a jungle gym-style pipe structure and custom platforms for the performers and provided covering, facing, and steps. Carpeting and custom facing were provided for two of the other stages.
For all of the NFL Opening Kickoff pre-game events, Project Manager Ken Zommer and Chicago Scenic worked closely with designer Rene Lagler, as well as with White Cherry Productions, to make each event memorable.
