Chicago Scenic's Design Manager Tom Ryan began working with Heitmann and Mario Valentini from Warren Johnson Architects, Inc. in December 2009 to create a store design that would complement the Häagen-Dazs® franchise requirements and still provide the Naperville store with a design that perfectly suited its hybrid personality.
Ryan provided layouts that created fluid traffic flow to the three separate "stores within a store" and also presented a unified floor plan for the 25-foot x 100-foot retail space. Ryan suggested complementary wall art designs, a suitable color palette that worked with the specified Häagen-Dazs® palette, and accompanying counter, flooring and laminate samples.
Once the design elements were agreed upon, Chicago Scenic team members cut the designs on CSSI's CNC routing machine. Scenic artists painted the decorative confections and added custom sprinkles before the pieces were installed in the new store.
Ryan suggested the addition of an inviting awning to the shop exterior and a logo that looked like it was etched on the storefront window, both of which were added prior to the store's summer grand opening.
