Radio City

This year, CSSI re-engineered the Radio City flowers that bloom during the show-stopping Nativity scene. The flowers bloomed bigger and better than ever. CSSI also built the huge stable that better fills the stage. We also added two flying tree silhouettes that feature more than 200 blooming flowers, and a fiber optic of the nativity star.

In 2007, in celebration of Radio City’s 75th anniversary year, the producers and designers of the show wanted to dazzle their audience, and they did - every moment of the beloved holiday tradition sparkled and glowed.

Chicago Scenic Project Manager Ken Zommer worked closely with Designer Patrick Fahey on the show that played exclusively at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. After many years of working on the touring version, “Christmas across America,” Chicago Scenic was proud to have been part of such a spectacular production.

Motorized elements brought the show to life

Chicago Scenic provided many elements, including an artificial ice rink that moves across the stage while figure skaters glide merrily along. A self-contained drive system moved, raised and lowered the rink on command. The set also featured a gigantic replica of a snow-covered stone bridge from New York’s Central Park, outlined in lights, with working street lamps.

Radio City Music Hall glowed with a thousand points of light

Throughout the show, the stage sets sparkled. Blue translucent jewels backed with flashy lighting adorned center step units that featured a built-in, high-speed elevator that magically brought Santa Claus to the top for his grand entrance. Additionally, CSSI built flying set pieces that sparkled like diamonds, LED lights recreated the neon glow of Times Square, and brightly lit Christmas presents, candy canes and giant candles adorned scenes in the show.
