Radio City Christmas Spectacular

Radio City's most recent major Christmas Spectacular redesign featured a "steampunk" theme and Chicago Scenic created several prominent elements for the show's "Santa Workshop". With just six weeks to complete the major redesign, round-the-block Chicago Scenic crews were on a fast track to complete the biggest piece of single scenery the team has ever built.

The Workshop portal and the Workshop interior featured rotating gears and pumping pistons reminiscent of 19th century steam powered equipment. The project scale was impressive. - the finished portal measured 80-feet-wide by 43-feet-high. RGB and white LED tape was incorporated so any color could be produced, an industry innovation at the time.
