Cubs Jersey at the Field Museum

As the Chicago Cubs prepared to enter their first post-season series since 2008, The Field Museum of Natural History decided it was time to dress the dino.

They called upon Chicago Scenic’s experienced metals, paints, and soft goods departments to replicate a Chicago Cubs jersey – similar to the Blackhawks jersey we made in 2010 – to be worn by the giant brachiosaurus outside the Field Museum along Lake Shore Drive.

The timeframe? Just one week.

Beginning in Metals, crews welded a durable body frame that wraps around the dinosaur’s belly without touching it. Then the Soft Goods Department measured and cut the fabric that had been hand-painted by the Paints Department. With the jersey’s pinstripes aligned perfectly, the fabric pieces were sewn together to create the custom fit.
