Chicago Scenic worked with Thorton Tomasetti LLC to engineer the 26-foot-diameter globe and then built the globe’s aluminum frame and the steel-reinforced high-impact acrylic continents. When the globe was complete, it was shipped to Boston and installed by Freeman Exhibits on Bio2007’s show floor.

The show’s organizers said that the globe was the show’s top meeting spot and a point of reference for all attendees, and at almost three stories high it was an impressive centerpiece. Inside the globe was an interactive video exhibit that highlighted biotechnology developments on every continent.
