As
the primary show set contractor for DisneyQuest Chicago, Chicago
Scenic worked on virtually every area of the 100,000-sq.-ft.
indoor virtual reality themepark, from the dining room's fabric
ceiling to the molded fiberglass décor in Ventureport
that created the entry portals to the Create, Explore, and
Replay zones.
In the
Explore Zone, work included the facades and detailing for
Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride, a 3D virtual reality (VR) experience,
the show sets and artificial foliage for the Jungle Cruise,
a VR ride where visitors paddle down a prehistoric river,
and show sets for Hercules in the Underworld.
In the
Score Zone Chicago Scenic installed and themed the skysleds
for Ride the Comix where guests fight comic strip characters
using VR light sabers, and the electronic scoreboard for the
Mighty Ducks Pinball Slam, where guests become the pinballs.
Chicago Scenic was responsible for the exterior cladding and
theming and the installation of Invasion Saucers, a VR ride
where teams of guests neutralize aliens and save colonists.
In the
Replay Zone Chicago Scenic fabricated and finished in place
the 27-foot-tall fiberglass rocket ship and created the faux
finishes for the walls.
Beyond
fabrication and installation services, Chicago Scenic provided
onsite management services, along with carpenters, ironworkers,
projectionists, and scenic artists to help bring the entire
attraction to a successful and timely completion over a nine-month
period.
