Chicago
Scenic worked with Amazing Chicago's owner, Premier Yachts,
and design firm Jack Rouse Associates for over a year to complete
the family entertainment center that takes guests on a unique
tour of Chicago. Chicago Scenic served not only as the construction
manager, coordinating the designers, architects, and contractors
from permitting through the project's completion, but also
as the show set fabricator, providing all detailing, graphics,
construction, automation, and installation of the project's
elements.
The
experience begins as the guests enter a construction elevator
headed to the observation deck of Chicago's newest skyscraper.
But the elevator fails and sends everyone crashing into a
mirror maze of tunnels deep beneath the city. After finding
their way out of the maze, designed by Adrian Fisher, visitors
find themselves in another labyrinth made of famous Chicago
landmarks. After leaving this area, guests find their way
through the building's hallways that are still "under
construction", through a black hole tunnel, and onto
the observation deck where the experience ends with a fireworks
display.
Dripping
sewers, the heat of the Great Chicago Fire, and wind gusts
high above the city's skyline are just a few of the special
effects created for the project. Chicago Scenic used multiple
fabrication methods, including its computerized routing system
to create many of the city's historic landmarks, and molded
fiberglass to create the multiple archways required in the
underground maze. The entire project is driven by Chicago
Scenic's show control system that integrates all of the automation,
special effects, and the audiovisual systems.
