DNA Exhibit

Chicago

1988

Chicago Scenic developed the programming and exhibits for a live educational program to teach high school students the basics of DNA at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry.

A four-note melody was created to represent each of deoxyribonucleic acid's four building blocks. This melody, the program's audio-visual elements, and the lighting were controlled by a SMPTE operating. A live presenter used an electronic keyboard to play the melody which then initiated the SMPTE program, integrating the other elements of the program into his musical program, thereby reinforcing DNA basics in a fun and exciting manner.

In addition to integrating all of the lesson's elements into one computer-controlled musical program that supported the presentation, Chicago Scenic also designed and built the brightly colored exhibit that was used to communicate the lesson, provided the lighting and sound systems, along with complete management and installation services.
