| Working
with Detroit-based Presentation Works and designer Johniene
Papandreas, Chicago Scenic constructed a spectacular Ford
press event/product introduction in Detroit's Cobo Arena for
the 2002 International Auto Show.
For
the staged event, Chicago Scenic provided a 48-foot-long curved
ramp that gradually inclined to an eight-foot-high deck that
held a dramatic 18-foot turntable. New vehicles from Ford
and their partners, such as the new Land Rover, GT40, Tonka
Truck (F350), and Mazda RX8 were unveiled at the show. Each
car drove up the ramp, stopped on the turntable, and slowly
spun 360° to highlight its style and design. To emphasize
the Land Rover's four-wheel independent suspension system,
Chicago Scenic created "logs" that were attached
to the ramp for the SUV to drive over demonstrating its superior
quality suspension.
Chicago
Scenic also provided front and rear projection surfaces for
image magnification, videos, and graphics of Ford, Volvo,
Mazda, and Land Rover to enhance the total visual picture
and strengthen brand identity. These surfaces along with 30-
to 60-foot-long vertical cylinders were used by the show's
lighting designer to introduce color and shape into the highly
stylized set and to provide distinctive visual reinforcements
to each brand.
