NFL kicks off another season
The National Football League treated fans to quite a show at the 2008 kickoff game. Former New York Giants teammate Michael Strahan popped out of a 14-foot replica of the Vince Lombardi Superbowl trophy to present the real trophy to the adoring fans at Giants Stadium.
White Cherry Productions hired CSSI to build and deliver the oversized trophy designed by Rene Lagler. Flat frames covered in mylar comprised the trophy’s base, while the football atop the trophy was an inflatable that was pumped up just before its entrance onto the field.
The trophy was built to open on three sides but ultimately opened on just one side when the trophy was used during the nationally televised event. CSSI also provided a small stage.
Chicago Scenic is proud to have once again been part of NFL events for the fourth year.
Fox News Network unveils stunning new Studio H
Showman Fabricators looked to Chicago Scenic to assist with the fabrication of the new “Studio H” environment for Fox News Network located in New York. Working together, Showman and CSSI completed the installation in time for “Studio H” to go live for the Election Day coverage on FOX.
CSSI built and supervised the installation of the studio’s perimeter walls finished with blue tile, silver laminate, and graphics designed by Erik Ulfers of Clickspring Designs. The walls were constructed with multiple cut-outs and adjustable mounts for over 50 LCD monitors ringed with integrated LED lighting.
Reinvented “At the Movies” makes its debut on national TV
The iconic review show “At the Movies” recently reinvented itself with new hosts and an updated set. Chicago Scenic’s Tom Ryan collaborated with Peter Van Vilet and Jimmy Cuomo to design the set. New elements included furniture, walls and trim, along with a projection screen. To help keep the project on budget the design team worked diligently to reuse and repurpose items from the original set, including light columns, studio hardware and equipment.
“This project demanded a quick turnaround and an even quicker response time to make changes after the show went on the air,” said Project Manager Jean Burch. Last-minute changes included set color adjustments and adding a large circular header piece to enhance the set’s look on television.
