Acura dealers see spectacular show of 2009 models at their
annual convention
A dynamic show greeted Acura dealers at their annual convention
this year in New Orleans. Working for Martin Brinkerhoff & Associates
and Technical Director Tom Mendenhall, Chicago Scenic fired
up its new automation system, CS Control, and delivered an
exciting roll-out of Acura’s 2009 models.
CS Control’s powerful system handles the most complicated
automation demands for a wide variety of applications. Controlling
mechanical systems like turntables and winches is its primary
purpose, but it can also be easily programmed to interface
with audio-visual and lighting equipment, handling up to 600
axes of motion and 1,000 cues.
At the Acura meeting, with a Chicago Scenic operator at its
reins, CS Control powered one of Chicago Scenic’s massive 20-foot
turntables and four sets of traveler tracks. A custom surround
and two raked decks augmented the turntable. The tracks were
approximately 100’ feet-long and each supported two LED wall
panels provided by Upstaging, Inc. Since each track was individually
controlled, it was easy to incorporate a large variety of cues
and different looks for the performances. Surrounding the large
projection screen, Chicago Scenic provided custom walls and
two large custom-cut drops with LED color webs showing through
the drops’ open areas. Chicago Scenic also brought a variety
of drapery and masking flats from our large rental department
to complete the show’s environment. Finally, to create a smaller,
more intimate environment within the larger auditorium, Chicago
Scenic provided custom panels on either side of the center
section, which supported LED color webs.
Proctor & Gamble showed off all sides of its pet food
products at recent presentation
Ohio-based Exhibit Concepts recently hired Chicago Scenic
to provide an 18-foot, low-profile turntable for a Proctor & Gamble
presentation that was part of a multi-city promotional tour.
The turntable was split into three themed environments, each
of which featured different lifestyles of typical pet owners.
Brief vignettes incorporated each environment and showcased
a different Iams product.
The Chicago Scenic turntable made changing scenes a breeze,
and its low-profile, smooth motion made the transitions seamless.
CSSI’s turntables, used in conjunction with the CS Control
automation system, ensure that projects like this one—and ones
with more complicated mechanical systems as well—run smoothly
and consistently. Pre-programming and thorough testing help
deliver problem-free operation at live events.
