Marriott
Lincolnshire Theatre Shines with The Taffetas
CSSI
continues its long-standing relationship with Marriott Theatre in
Lincolnshire by helping to put on its most recent show The Taffetas,
a musical revue with a cast of four women that sing love songs celebrating
the 1950s.
The show’s set
designer, Tom Ryan used the theater’s in-the-round layout to his
advantage, designing a set that consists largely of oversized LPs
and 45 RPM record replicas. Most of the action takes place on a
giant rotating record that is twenty feet in diameter which was
coated with a special vinyl for a more authentic look. The three-piece
band was set in the center of the disk (where the label would be)
with the four women singing and dancing around them as the stage
revolves. The newly constructed turntable will be used in future
shows as well.
CSSI also built the four lifts in the corners of the stage. The
lifts were also record replicas and were created to be performance
area for the actors.
