1999 Leo Burnett Breakfast
The 1999 Burnett Breakfast's theme was the "Leos," a take off on the Oscars. Leo Burnett employees knew something was up when they arrived for the annual meeting at the Auditorium Theatre. Using photo blow-ups and strobe lights to simulate flashbulbs, CSSI created a wall of "paparazzi" outside the theatre. The look was complete right down to the red carpet.

Inside, Chicago Scenic created two 16'-tall carved Leo statues that stood behind custom podiums that featured faux apples that CSSI carved. To extend the stage, the orchestra pit was bridged to allow audience members to come onto the stage.

The Auditorium Theatre was a new location for the event this year, so there were several challenges. The greatest of these was that the breakfast shared a stage with the Joffrey Ballet's production of The Nutcracker . This meant that our Tom Ryan had to design the set to be struck from the stage in less than three hours to allow for a Nutcracker performance that evening.

Project Manager Gary Heitz worked with Tom Weeks of Leo Burnett to complete this job.
