CSSI Aims High with Skyscrapers Exhibit
Project Manager Gary Heitz worked with Cengiz Yetken and Rusty Walker of the architectural firm Perkins & Will to build and install scenic elements for an exhibit about skyscrapers in the Art Institute of Chicago's Horseshoe Gallery. The exhibit, designed by Ralph Johnson, FAIA, has visitors looking out "windows" at pictures of skyscrapers.

Aluminum mullions were placed on the walls to simulate large window frames. Perforated aluminum panels were then hung off of the mullions to act as glass panels. Skyscraper artwork was placed on the perforated aluminum to make guests think they were looking out at a city skyline. Six freestanding window units with artwork on both sides were also provided.

This project is part of a series of architectural exhibits in the Horseshoe Gallery that Chicago Scenic has worked on over the past eight years. Gary Heitz coordinated this exhibit with the Art Institute's Martha Thorne. Andy Lemerand led the job through the shop.
