Winter WonderFest Lights Up Navy Pier for the Holidays
With the help of Chicago Scenic, Navy Pier once again transformed Festival Hall into a luminescent winter scene for their fourth annual WinterWonderfest in December. The three week event, sponsored by LaSalle Bank, was a smashing success. Thousands of visitors came out to see the myriad lights, hundreds of decorated Christmas trees and numerous family activities.

Chicago Scenic was tasked with the master design, construction management and the newly appointed task of production management. CSSI Designer Tom Ryan designed the layout for this large scale attraction while CSSI Project Manager Rick Boultinghouse and Project Manager Alyssa Goff from Ravenswood Event Services supervised the project from conception to dismantling. CSSI Job Lead Andy Lemerand provided in-shop and on-site supervision with the support of a large crew provided by Freeman Decorating.

Chicago Scenic Studios refurbished and installed several existing holiday elements this year such as Santa’s mountain, event banners, the main entrance arch, and various information booths.

New this year were the additions of a 40’ Ferris wheel, a ropes course climbing challenge and a frog hopper ride. All items were met with a very enthusiastic reception. Returning family attractions were the large indoor ice rink, the giant musical carousal and numerous inflatable rides.

Chicago Scenic worked with a number of talented people in order to create this successful event. Navy Pier Project Manager Sherry Caruso, with assistance from Tony Gargano, offered tremendous support. Patrick Chan of Theatrical Lighting Connection served as the event's Lighting Designer.
