WLS Gets New Weather Center
WLS-TV’s new weather center came together with the help of Chicago Scenic. CSSI Project Manager Ross Hamilton and Designer Tom Ryan worked closely with Tom Hebel, director of creative services at WLS, to create a weather center that would better accommodate the meteorology staff and give the station a much-improved look for its weather updates.

Gabe Segoviano drafted the custom back wall and anchor desk for the weather center. The wall incorporates 12 computer and video monitors connected to WLS’s upgraded weather-tracking systems. CSSI also created a station-identifying marquee placed over the weather center. The graphics were all designed by the WLS design department led by Lisa Clingan-Cruz. The majority of the new set was finished in high-pressure natural wood laminates to match the existing anchor set. Mike Zaremba and Dave Kaina worked on the job in the CSSI shop and Tim Steimle served as the job lead.
