Union Workers Unite to Support American Dream
Chicago, a city known for its rich labor history, hosted the 50th anniversary convention of the merger of the AFL and the CIO on July 25-28. The meeting, held at the historical Navy Pier, brought together over 900 delegates of America’s union members and leaders. Producer, Velocity Communications Partners of Washington, DC, wanted to create an event for the AFL-CIO that surpassed previous years’ experiences, and Chicago Scenic helped make it a success.

CSSI provided the extensive scenery for the event, including a carpeted stage totaling more than 200’ in width, multiple custom screen surrounds (some as large as 16’ by 30’), over 600 running feet of drape and 25” bas-relief letters used for a charged background in support of the convention’s message. A custom designed lectern containing an adjustable, electronic reading surface provided the users confidence in their flexible presentation space. CSSI’s detail-oriented staff brought everything together in less than a month to support the summer’s AFL-CIO monumental event.
