Toyota Celebrated!
Event marketer George P. Johnson selected Chicago Scenic to construct many of
the exciting elements for the Toyota national dealers’ meeting held in Chicago this
fall at McCormick Place and Millennium Park.
The park elements included gold picture frames highlighting performance artists
and red spandex seat covers to help create a more intimate seating area in the
amphitheater.
The McCormick Place engagement, designed by ZED Inc., featured top-name
entertainment and lively events that required CSSI’s expertise to assist in
showcasing Toyota’s 2006 celebrated vehicles, including:
• a 48’ by 48’ Steeldeck™ platform to support ZZ Top.
• a 96’ by 48’ Steeldeck™ stage layered in elm laminate with an upper deck and
railing for onlookers at the Rav 4 display.
• a 60’ wide by 16’-tall curved back wall sweeping into the floor deck resembling the actual Yaris’ console and kiosks holding iPods to entertain and
educate attendees at the Yaris stage.
• an 80’ by 80’ mahogany covered deck with 10’-tall internally lit columns, four Reatrix™ walls for projected images and a 24’ diameter internally
illuminated beverage bar for the Camry display.
• two 12’ by 12’ graphic walls, faux stone walls and a deck with engraved logos and oversized rock platforms showcasing three 1.5 ton FJ Cruisers.
Compuware Annual OJ.X Event is a Smashing Success
Compuware’s second annual OJ.X event was a smashing success, attracting an international audience of over 1,000 software developers and managers. OJ.X, an educational and networking opportunity, is designed to immerse professionals in advanced software development techniques. The event, offered in a dynamic educational environment, included interactive learning labs, sessions led by industry experts, multiple opportunities for peer
networking and live entertainment.
In order to create this exciting environment, event producer ClearBlue! hired Chicago Scenic to execute a complete transformation of the lobby at Compuware’s headquarters in Detroit. Designed by Duke Durfee, Chicago Scenic had only three days to complete the
metamorphosis. CSSI’s work included:
• Stage Platforming — Chicago Scenic utilized in-house rental inventory of Steeldeck ™ and custom decks to create a 60-foot-long multi-purpose presentation stage.
• Audience Risers—Crews creatively constructed an 80-foot-deep by 36-foot-wide seating area over the large existing fountain, incorporating protective methods to preserve the watertight integrity of the fountain.
• Waterfall Drape —CSSI’s softgoods department provided a 40-foot-high by 100-foot-wide velour drape to cover an existing waterfall to offer acoustic absorption.
• Compuware Super “X” Graphics — Teams created and mounted two oversized “X” logos near the stage to highlight the event’s theme.
• Set Walls —The lobby was transformed using five 20- foot-high wall panels with decorative touches to complete the overall look.
