Conan O'Brien Set Lights Up Chicago
When Late Night with Conan O'Brien was broadcast from the Chicago Theatre this summer, NBC knew that Chicago Scenic was the only place to turn to get the set built for the nationally televised show. The show may be known for its crazy antics, but Chicago Scenic didn't waste any time fooling around before getting to work.
After building the sets for Jay Leno's The Tonight Show on its last visits to Chicago, we knew just what was needed to get the job done. The set consisted of a platform for the host's desk, two lightboxes in Conan's signature moon shape, a stage for the Max Weinberg Seven, and a stage for the guest band. There were also two oversized portals with chasing lights just to jazz things up further.
The background was a full-stage scrim that featured a lightbox of the Chicago skyline to make sure the audience didn't forget Conan was in the Windy City. The dynamic set was designed by Bobby Berg, Late Night's own set designer.
Fox News Gets Makeover
Working from the basics of the previous Fox News Chicago set, Chicago Scenic recently provided the station with a new set, giving them a more modern and updated look.
The set, designed by Graham Blyth, consisted of a new anchor desk, additional monitors, a cleaned-up look for the existing monitor wall and a new look for the back wall featuring a rear projection screen in the middle flanked by back-lit graphic panels. Eye-catching LED lighting in both the anchor desk and projection surround also contribute to the set's sleek new appearance. Even the ceiling got a makeover. The old plexiglas panels were replaced with stretch spandex to give the set a brighter on-screen appearance.
