Ravinia's "Annie Get Your Gun" Production Hit
In preparation for Ravinia's three-day run of Irving Berlin's hit-filled Broadway classic, "Annie Get Your Gun", staff members contacted Chicago Scenic this summer to create and automate the show's iconic bull's eye target. Broadway great Patti LuPone starred as Annie Oakley, the fictionalized sharpshooter, whose talent led to a starring role in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show in the 1880s. In one of several stage gimmicks, LuPone was tethered to the revolving bull's eye and shot at a stationary target.
Chicago Scenic painters also painted a 40-foot x 20-foot floor
covering which echoed the bull's eye motif. The production was
directed by Lonny Price with Paul Gemignani leading the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
